Cowgirl Trailer Bar

Cowgirl Trailer Bar

Last year my husband and I purchased a Lakota Horse Trailer. It was our dream trailer we  splurged but it was money well spent. However, I could not sell our Delta Trailer. All those memories trailering out our horses I could not part with selling it. So, I had my hubby tuck the trailer behind the barn by the chicken coop. Little did I know that old trailer was going to be my spring 2019 DIY project.

A few weeks ago, I came across a photo on Facebook of a converted horse trailer and got inspired. What an awesome idea converting your horse trailer into a bar! So, the adventure has started. Last week my husband and I started to sand and gut the trailer. We are having it painted teal in April and my handy dandy husband will start building the shelving early May. We hope to have it finished by June 2019.

Converting our old trailer into a bar will be functional and convenient especially when we have our summer BBQ’s.  We intend to move the “Cowgirl Trailer Bar” into our courtyard by the BBQl! I see many many photo ops and cheers coming our way!

The posted photograph is our Trailer Bar Inspiration.  I hope you are inspired to recycle your old trailer into something functional!

Cowgirl Tunic Tops. A Must Have

Cowgirl Tunic Tops. A Must Have

Tunic Tops a must have staple in every cowgirls wardrobe!  What is considered a tunic top? It is longer that a women's shirt but shorter than a dress.  A Tunic top can be worn with jeans or leggings. The trick is to wear the tunic in a way that is most flattering for your body.

I Love pairing tunic tops with a pair of leggings and Knee High Cowboy Boots. I always suggest to our customers to pick a solid color tunic. Then buy a couple pair of printed leggings. You get more bang for your buck if with a solid tunic!

Here are some suggestions on how to wear your tunic:

  • Pair a loose tunic with slender bottoms: straight or skinny jeans, not flared or baggy. A more fitted tunic can go nicely with a boot cut pant.
  • You can wear shorts with a tunic! Just make sure we can see those shorts beneath that tunic (i.e the shorts need to be longer than the hem of the tunic) and if you have great legs, this is a great way to show them off as shorter shorts with a loose tunic can be a great combination.
  • Adding a belt to a tunic can look great, but then forgo a necklace.
  • Billowy tunics can be held in by a shrunken jean jacket and/or a heavy necklace, or belt.
  • I’ve never seen a tunic look good with a skirt. If you want the look of a tunic with a skirt, just buy a tunic dress.
  • If you pair a long tunic with bermuda shorts, wear wedges, as you’ll need to visually add more height to your lower leg to balance the length of the tunic, plus the length of the shorts, all of which is happening above the knee.
  • A tunic is a classic style that is forgiving for many women to wear. Embrace it!

Western Holiday Tablescape

Western Holiday Tablescape

Western Holiday Tablescape that is on trend and easy to make.

The holidays are almost here and it’s always fun decorating the ranch. This year I wanted to decorate my dinning room table that would work for Halloween and Thanksgiving. I was looking for a western decor idea that was elegant and easy to make. I came across this Pumpkin and Antler idea on Pinterest last week. This Western centerpiece was so easy to make that I had to share with you!

What you will need to make this Western Tablescape:

2 Medium Sized Pumpkins

7 Small Pumpkins

3 Votive Candles

5 Bleached Antlers

4 Small Bunches of Flowers

If your table is longer than a standard sized kitchen table I would suggest doubling the materials needed. I love the white on white look in this picture. However, I’m a purest when it comes to fall colors. When I made this centerpiece I used orange pumpkins. And instead of white flowers I used yellow/orange roses. Some of our Elusive Cowgirl Boutique Facebook fans suggested spray painting the pumpkins silver or gold. This is a really great idea too! Whatever your décor color pallet is; you could paint and alter the colors of the pumpkins and flowers. This is a very versatile tablescape for everyone! Not to mention very cheap to make. Everyone is on a budget but that does not mean you can't decorate with flair. This whole project cost me $20 to make. I had the antlers and candles in my closet. If you did not have antlers you could use branches instead. And if you did not want to use flowers you could arrange fall colored leaves in a vase. I hope you have fun making this centerpiece!

Using Corrugated Metal In Home Design

Using Corrugated Metal In Home Design

For the past few months I have been looking for ideas to redesign my bedroom. I currently have the bohemian chic design with vibrant colors and hanging lanterns. But after a long day at 2 jobs I want to come home to something more relaxing. Being a country girl at heart I've decided to change things up a bit and go for a "Modern Cowgirl Look". Black and White Aztec pillows, Cream Colored Bedding, Cowhide Rug, Vintage Black and White Cowboy Photos, Black Leather Chair, Black and White Pendleton Accent Blanket, and Cream Colored Walls. And a Corrugate Metal Accent Wall?

To achieve this Modern Cowgirl Look I have been on Pinterest for inspiration. And I have become obsessed with Corrugate Metal . Especially corrugate metal that has a distressed look. Unfortunately, we do not have scrap yards in my area that carry old corrugated metal. However, I did find 2 methods of distressing the metal to give that authentic weathered look.

I start renovation on my room next week! And I cant wait to see how this distressed metal wall looks in my room. Below are the steps i will be taking to distress sheets of corrugated metal before I install them. The photo above Sparked My Inspiration and hopefully it sparks inspiration for you too!

Hydrogen Peroxide and Salt Method:

Step 1

Work in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes. Put on safety goggles and gloves.

Step 2

Fill a bucket with water and add enough liquid degreasing dishwasher detergent to create suds.

Step 3

Clean the corrugated metal with the solution to remove all dirt, grease or grime. Rinse it clean and wipe it dry or let it air dry. Use a wire brush that can scratch up the surface of new corrugated metal to help it rust better.

Step 4

Pour a generous portion of hydrogen peroxide into the spray bottle.

Step 5

Spray the cleaned corrugated metal with the peroxide as it lays on a flat surface.

Step 6

Sprinkle the table salt on the metal while the hydrogen peroxide is wet. Cover the hydrogen peroxide with a thin coat of salt so it interacts with the hydrogen peroxide. As you sprinkle the salt, you can see it begin to work with the hydrogen peroxide.

Step 7

Rub the item with a rag to remove the salt after it has dried. Repeat Step 4 through 6 until you achieve the rusted look you want.

Step 8

Apply a sealing coat if you don't want the rust to rub off, such as a polyurethane or acrylic spray.

White Vinegar and Bleach

Step 1

Mix 1 part of vinegar to 2 parts of bleach in a bucket.

Step 2

Pour or spray the solution onto the corrugated metal.

Step 3

Let the corrugated metal air dry. Wipe off excess rust if desired.

Step 4

Spray the item with an acrylic high-gloss or matte sealer based on your preferences.

Spreading A Little Luck

Spreading A Little Luck

The horseshoe is probably one of the most well known good luck symbols of the Western world. Hanging a horseshoe above a doorway will protect the home and bring good luck. Many believe it's important to hang your horseshoe with the points upwards. This hanging position ensures the luck will not escape. Others believe that hanging the horseshoe with the points down ensures good luck poring down on everyone that walks underneath the horseshoe.

No matter how you hang your horseshoe your belief behind the symbol is all that matters. Sometimes its the sight of a symbol like a horseshoe that gives you hope.  The sight of it encourages you to do your best and believe in your dreams. To have faith that "today" is going to be a  good day when its a difficult time. I think we treasure our symbols because they are tangible. The sight of them snaps us out of our daily grind and remind us of our ambitions. It reminds us that we are alive and have dreams!

2) Galvanized Water Trough Turned Wood Rack: What do you do with that old galvanized water trough with a rusty bottom? Cut the bottom out and stack your wood! Have you cowboy add side legs for stability. Not only is this functional to keep your wood dry its super cute!

3) Stirrup Picture Frame: This would be a cute gift idea for any age. As your kids grow keep there stirrups and turn them into picture frames.

Materials:
